SunGreenH2 is building the materials operating system for a decarbonized molecule economy. Our NanoForgeX™ platform engineers nanostructured electrodes that double hydrogen output, eliminate rare metals, and create new frontiers in electrochemical manufacturing—from hydrogen to CO₂ fuels to water treatment. This is not just a better electrolyser. It’s a new way to fuse atoms and electrons into clean molecules—at scale.

SunGreenH2’s proprietary electrodes are designed to double hydrogen production while consuming 20% lower renewable energy than the conventional electrolyzer technologies. This reduces plant stack capex by 50% primarily through increasing H2 output whilst reducing the use of expensive precious metals.
Our electrodes are stable at very high current densities thus our developed membrane electrode assemblies are capable of not only operating at higher current density, which directly relates to higher hydrogen production, but also last longer than conventional membrane electrode assemblies.
Critical mineral dependence is currently a barrier to the scale up of electrolyzers. SunGreenH2’s breakthrough lies in achieving high performance without the use of any platinum group metals (PGMs).
The electrodes improve power consumption efficiency by 10%, lowering the operational cost of electricity. This is significant because electricity accounts for 60-70% of levelized H2 costs.

SolidHydrogen and SunGreen, together with an international consortium, have secured AUD 2.5 million to develop and demonstrate next-generation green hydrogen solutions. The funding will support the integration of SunGreen’s high-efficiency AEM electrolyser with SolidHydrogen’s innovative single-step hydrogen purification and compression system, significantly reducing costs, footprint, and operational complexity. The initiative will be showcased through two pilot projects: a 2kW prototype in French Polynesia co-producing hydrogen and cooling for tropical and off-grid applications, and a 20kW pressurised system in Indonesia to validate commercial-scale production and performance. In addition to technology demonstration, the consortium will conduct techno-economic analyses, life cycle assessments, and social acceptance studies, creating a clear roadmap for regional deployment. By leveraging local manufacturing pathways and integrated systems, the project aims to make green hydrogen economically competitive with fossil fuels, accelerate the energy transition in the Indo-Pacific, and establish a scalable, sustainable hydrogen ecosystem.

21 Oct 2025, HAMBURG - SunGreen, a Singapore-based clean energy technology startup, andHydoTech, a leading alkaline electrolyser original equipment manufacturer (OEM), todayannounced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate SunGreen’sproprietary high-performance nanoengineered electrodes into HydoTech's alkaline electrolysersystems. The collaboration brings together SunGreen’s breakthrough electrode technology withHydoTech's innovative alkaline electrolysis platform to deliver enhanced system performance andreduced hydrogen production costs for industrial applications worldwide.
SunGreen develops and manufactures next-generation electrodes and porous transport layersusing proprietary nanostructured coatings that significantly enhance electrochemical performanceacross multiple energy transition applications. For electrolysers, the company’s electrodes aredesigned to double hydrogen output while reducing energy consumption by up to 20% comparedto conventional technologies. Most significantly, SunGreen’s technology completely eliminatesthe use of platinum group metals (PGMs), addressing critical mineral dependency challenges thathave hindered large-scale electrolyser deployment and global energy transition supply chains.Additionally, SunGreen’s electrodes improve power consumption efficiency by up to 20%, directlyreducing operational electricity costs - a critical factor as electricity accounts for 60 to 70% oflevelised hydrogen production costs."
This partnership with HydoTech marks an important milestone in SunGreen’s journey to scaleour advanced electrode platform technology globally," said Tulika Raj, CEO and Co-Founder ofSunGreen. "By integrating our high-efficiency, 100% PGM-free nanoengineered electrodes intoHydoTech's advanced alkaline systems, we are enabling the next generation of high-performanceelectrolysers that are commercially viable for scale and unlock the deployment of more efficientand cost-effective green hydrogen solutions across multiple industrial sectors. Together, we areaccelerating the world’s transition toward net zero."
HydoTech has developed its Hydolyser® platform using revolutionary electrolysis technologiesdesigned from first principles. Hydolyser® adopts standardized cells and cartridge stack design, integrated with its self-developed HydoOS® green hydrogen intelligent management system. Thisenables HydoTech to deliver higher efficiency, enhanced adaptability to green energy, and easieroperation and maintenance – driving down the levelized cost of green hydrogen (LCOH) andaddressing core industry challenges.“
Exploring the integration of SunGreen’s electrode technology with our advanced electrolysistechnology aligns with our commitment to continuous innovation and practical implementation,"said Gu Junjie, CTO at HydoTech. "We see potential in this collaboration to further improve oursystem’s efficiency and develop better economic solutions, which could support the broaderadoption of green hydrogen across diverse application scenarios.”
Under the MoU, the two companies will collaborate on technical integration, performancevalidation, and commercialisation planning. The partnership will focus on optimising systemdesign to maximise the benefits of SunGreen’s electrode technology within HydoTech's leadingalkaline electrolyser architecture. The collaboration comes at a pivotal time for the green hydrogenindustry, as demand grows for more efficient and economically viable production solutions tosupport industrial decarbonisation, renewable energy storage, and the global transition to cleanenergy.#
